Vivica A Fox: Sex Tape Scandal is Hot Blogesphere Mess

Vivica A. Fox in sex tape scandalDon't believe the hype – or the unscrupulous internet reports – about the hot new sex video starring Vivica A. Fox.

A rep for the 'Kill Bill' actress denied the buzz that has been burning up the new media scene for the past few days.

"It is not true," Fox's tight-lipped attorney Lita Richardson told The BV Newswire late last week.

On Jan. 2, some legitimate media outlets picked up on an item by popular Atlanta-based blogger Sandra Rose, who wrote how an "apparently inebriated" Fox was allegedly caught on camera performing fellatio on an "man," who "surreptitiously taped" the act and promptly emailed the footage to his friends.

To add insult to injury, the story took on a life of its own with an additional additive about how the 41-year-old star of films such as 'Booty Call' and 'Two Can Play that Game' was forwarded the tape by friends and passed it onto the Atlanta police department.

Atlanta radio personality Porche Foxx (an alleged friend of the actress) found herself embroiled in the mix and talked about it at length on her of V103-FM radio show last week, revealing that the brass of the CBS Radio-owned station informed her that detectives were seeking her. "I learned the greatest lesson about the news when I became the news," Foxx said.

The brazen broadcaster then called a local policeman while live on the airwaves and explained her involvement in the whole fiasco, admitting, "I never said Vivica Fox made a sex tape. I said 'friend of mine' and 'it's been rumored.'"

"I didn't even mention Vivica Fox's name ... I'm not sure how this took off but it did."

On Jan. 4, the former 'Dancing with the Stars' castoff's alleged publicist Kim Tumey (the self proclaimed "Celebrity Broker") sent an email to Rose stating: "Currently, Ms. Fox is a client of mine and has no boyfriend as reported by many news outlets nor has Ms. Fox been involved in any sexual acts that would ruin her reputation. FYI: For the record I understand that Porsche [Foxx] wants to be the next Wendy Williams, so do what Wendy does and check your sources. So, just because someone claims to be friends doesn't make it true."

Wow. What a way to start a new year.

Jamie Foster Brown, the publisher and editor-in-chief of Sister 2 Sister magazine – which features Fox as its cover subject this month – seemed shocked by the news when The BV Newswire contacted her. "I haven't seen the tape [but] this is a damn shame."

Brown, a former BET producer turned magazine publishing magnate, is one of the progenitors of black celebrity gossip: the glossy monthly magazine celebrates its 20th anniversary this year of publishing.

"Privacy is dead," she admitted, speaking on a more broad level. "Today you have to feel that whatever you do bad or good in private you have to assume lots of people are watching ...The Rodney King beating signaled a new day. Cops beat folks in private before, and now anybody on any corner or bedroom can have a video going."

"Vivica's a grown woman," she added, saying that she doesn't believe the reports. "This is too scary. Hopefully this won't damage her business career."
