Michael Jackson’s rep has dismissed reports that the superstar is in bad health, after rumors surfaced claiming that he was battling a lung condition and internal bleeding, and had lost vision in one eye have.
The story broke after a British newspaper interviewed Ian Halperin, a documentary filmaker who is currently working on a piece about the King of Pop.
Halperin claimed that Jackson suffered from Alpha 1-antrypsin deficiency, which is a serious lung condition that would eventually require a transplant.
Halperin also claimed Jackson is struggling to speak, is suffering from emphysema and internal bleeding, and has almost entirely lost vision in his left eye.
However on Monday (December 22), Jackson’s official spokesperson, Dr. Tohme Tohme, released a statement refuting reports of Jackson’s failing health, saying they are “a total fabrication.”
“Mr. Jackson is in fine health, and finalizing negotiations with a major entertainment company and television network for both a world tour and a series of specials and appearances,” Tohme said.
“Concerning this author’s allegations, we would hope in the future that legitimate media will not continue to be exploited by such an obvious attempt to promote this unauthorized ‘biography’.”
Halperin stands by his story, however, telling Usmagazine, “Due to Michael’s denial I will not be speaking until next week, when I will release the facts, evidence and the true story behind all that has gone on. Initially this was just a documentary, but it looks like I’ll write the bio after all.”
